Being in the main city of Hue, there are many tours and activities for you to do such as visiting the Tombs or checking out the Truong Tien Bridge. However, going to Thuan An, you don’t have those options.
If most of you don’t know, Thuan An is about 40 minutes’ drive away from the city of Hue. It’s more of a village setting but I believe it’s a great place to visit for a few days.
These are some of the things I did and enjoyed doing while my 5 day stay in Thuan An, Hue.
1. Thuan An Beach
Staying at my uncles, the walk to the beach was a mere 5 minutes!
Now this beach isn’t as clean or nice as places such as Da Nang or Nha Trang but one of the things I like about Thuan An beach was that it was secluded. A few times being out there, I felt as if the whole beach was mine.
The ocean is a bit on the high tides of things but there is an area that the water is completely stilled.
2. Go to the Local Café
One of the best coffee I ever had in my life was in Thuan An. My uncle that lives there, brought me to a couple of local café places and each time I had a coffee, I was amazed by the taste. I had not taste any coffee like this back home. It wasn’t too sweet but it wasn’t too bitter. It was simply in there middle of the two.
As well as having one of the best coffee, some cafés had just stunning views. It was late at night that my cousins decided to bring me to a café. One of the café had a view that I still hold a memory in my mind. It outlook the vast ocean with a dozen fisherman boats anchor for the night. It was beautiful!
From Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh to Thuan An, I noticed that they all had the same music selection. So going to this small village, you would still get all the updated songs! I really thought I would be singing some 90s music but I was surely wrong!
As well as to having up-to-date music, each Karaoke room I went too was huge with glowing bright disco lights and some of the rooms even had its own private washroom.
4. Eat & Drink Outside
One of things I love to do in Vietnam was to sit outside and eat and drink till the sun comes down.
I must warned you that if you choose to eat seafood, get ready for the swarm of flies on your feet but if you can look past the swarm, I guarantee you’ll have such a great night out.
The food was beyond delicious and your cup is always filled up. The locals tend to filled up your glass, sometimes you don’t even realized it but it’s sure a nice gesture of them.
5. Head to the Resort
There’s a beautiful resort right on the beach in Thuan An. It’s called Ana Mandara Hue Resort.
Now I’ve never stayed here but looking through pictures and the reviews I get from my sister, it seems as this resort may be worth staying a night or two.
I love staying in resorts whenever I get the chance too. It’s a nice way to sit back and relax. If you want to get away a day or two from everything, definitely check out this resort!
Another plus side to visiting Thuan An is that most of the activities and food here is cheaper than other cities. The prices in Hue compare to Ho Chi Minh or Da Nang is a world of a difference.
One of the best coffee I had was in this village and the price was ridiculously cheap!
If you you’re thinking about visiting Thuan An Hue, Vietnam, I would recommend a max of two days. For me, after two days, I felt if I had already seen and done most of the things here. I was ready for another city.
I hope these 5 things I did in Thuan An can suede you to go check out this small village for a day or two!
